The Nemiranda Arthouse and Museum (NAM)

The Nemiranda Arthouse and Museum (NAM) is one of Angono’s most visited cultural attractions, drawing both local and international visitors who seek to immerse themselves in the town’s rich artistic and cultural heritage. At NAM, guests are introduced to the lives and works of Filipino painters, their masterpieces, and Angono’s enduring traditional and religious practices.

Designed and constructed by National Artist Nemesio “Nemiranda” Miranda Jr. himself, the arthouse reflects principles of sustainability and heritage through the use of local materials such as bamboo, sawali, and recycled wood sourced from the old church and convent of Angono. The structure is surrounded by striking relief murals and three-dimensional mythological figures, including Ang Nuno, Habagat, Bernardo Carpio, Mariang Makiling, Mutya ng Pasig, the Mermaid of Angono, Amihan, and Malakas at Maganda. This collective artistic vision is known as the House of Legends, a monumental concept brought to life by the artist.

The gallery showcases the works of Nemiranda alongside those of his five children; Katrina, Zarah, Paul Greco, Don Nemesio III, and Chesca, highlighting a continuing family legacy in the arts. Attached to the gallery is the Nemiranda family residence, now part of the visitor experience, admired for its turn-of-the-century wooden design and architectural details. The house also displays some of Nemiranda’s early works from the 1960s and 1970s, offering visitors a rare glimpse into the evolution of his artistic journey.
